Nickel alloys 625 and grade 825 are typically associated with boilers, heat exchangers, and condensers. Boilers are vessels that heat up fluids. Contrary to what the name suggests, a boiler does not boil the said fluid. Yet the temperature in boilers is elevated. Therefore the need for an ASTM B704 Welded Tube (625/ 825) arises. Both nickel alloys are known to withstand elevated temperatures.
Moreover, Inconel 625 and the ASME SB704 825 Incoloy Welded Tube are highly resistant to corrosion. At higher temperatures, most alloys are more likely to undergo a process known as oxidation. Oxidation is a form of corrosion that results in rust on the surface of the alloy. However, Incoloy 825 and ASTM B704 Nickel 625 Welded Tube have high levels of chromium in their chemistry. Chromium in nickel alloys causes a phenomenon, referred to as passivation on the surface of ASTM B704 UNS N06625 Welded Tube. The passivated oxide layer formed with reaction to atmospheric oxygen prevents further oxidation of the SB 704 N08825 ERW Tubing material. What makes the material for both Inconel 625 as well as ASTM B704 Incoloy 825 Tube extremely heat resistant is the fact that they both contain a very high content of nickel in their alloys. Nickel increases the heat endurance of the ASTM B704 Tubes.
