Besides, nickel, when alloyed with chromium and molybdenum to form SB 163 UNS N06600 Tube slows down the rate of corrosion. Similar to chromium passivated oxide, the high content of nickel in the ASTM B163 Nickel Alloy Tubing forms a protective layer on its surface like that of stainless steel. The protective layer prevents the material from getting corroded by forming a barrier between atmospheric oxygen and the ASTM B163 Round Tube. Nickel also has great resistance to reductive compounds and reductive acids in particular. Hence, the ASTM B163 Seamless Tube could also be used in applications that are prone to get corroded by reductive, acidic solutions. Specification ASTM B163, mentions several testing parameters for the ASME SB163 Tubes including a tension test, chemical analysis, rounding procedure, grain size, Rockwell hardness, along with a hardness conversion.
