ASTM A240 Type Plate and Duplex Steel 2205 Coil Supplier in India
Usually used in applications that required higher yield strength, duplex stainless steel alloys tend to have better mechanical properties in comparison to austenitic and ferritic alloys. The yield strength of Duplex 2205 Sheet & Plate is almost two times that of the austenitic category of stainless steel. The comparison is specifically between stainless steel grades 316L or 317L. Since the mechanical properties are higher than either alloy 316L or alloy 317L the designer has the option of creating a thinner gauge ASTM A240 Type 2205 Duplex Sheet.

Even though the cross section is thinner, the properties remain the same. Moreover, the price point of this weight saving alternative becomes competitive to that of austenitic stainless steel alloys 316L or 317L. Like the low carbon version of austenitic alloys, the Duplex 2205 Sheet contains significant addition of nitrogen as well, therefore improving its already superior tensile properties. The chemical composition of the 2205 duplex stainless steel plate ensures the resistance of the alloy to corrosion such as general corrosion, localized corrosion, and stress corrosion. In addition to having a high yield strength, the inclusion of nitrogen in the ASTM A240 Type 2205 Coils gives it excellent impact toughness. In terms of corrosion, the resistance properties of stainless steel duplex 2205 Plate against both pitting and crevice corrosion are much higher than either grade 316L or grade 317L austenitic stainless steels in virtually all corrosive mediums.
